the few weeks before christmas really are, hands down, my favorite time of year. i love the lights, the smells, the snow and even the cold. in fact, i can't imagine living my life anywhere that doesn't have frosty winters.

i like packing on the layers, having a collection of scarves and boots, and running from the subway when it's too cold to walk.

this year, to make the season even better, we got our first real tree. it's quite small, just slightly over four feet tall (and probably a little overpriced), but it is perfect.
